About the organization
The organization takes part in the development and implementation of national and international
targeted programs and projects for studying, restoring and conserving biological diversity, including
rare and endangered species of animals and plants and their ranges. One area of work is establishing
nurseries and rehabilitation centers for keeping wild animals, breeding them, and protecting them from
extinction.
Main areas of activity
Building the population's ecological culture, active participation in the protection and study of
biodiversity (including rare species and their habitats), supporting sustainable use of natural
resources, promoting the development of ecological tourism, and providing technical assistance to
the republic's protected natural areas.
Target species / subspecies
Goitered gazelle, Ustyurt urial, kulan (wild ass), markhor, saiga antelope, and others.
Geographic scope of work
Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Southern Ustyurt region, the Ustyurt plateau, protected natural areas.
Key projects during the last 5 years
A number of small projects have been implemented to expand environmental knowledge and culture. A
training seminar was held to raise environmental awareness and support practical work in this field,
jointly with the Karakalpakstan branch of the Public Fund for Support of Civil Institutions under the
Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as part of the grant project "Effective Use of Modern Media
in Environmental Protection Activities."
